PA Governor Candidate Forums
Meet the Prospects from a Disability Perspective
Join the disability community and the Pennsylvania candidates for Governor and US Senate for one-hour forums to discuss issues that are important to us. Candidates will be asked to share their ideas on topic such as employment, education, and healthcare as they relate to the disability community and allies.
Republican Candidates:
U.S. Rep. Melissa Hart
Melissa Hart served three terms in Washington, D.C., representing PA’s 4th District from 2001-2007. Since leaving the U.S. House of Representatives, she has spent 14 years practicing law. Rep. Hart also serves on the board of directors for a small business lender.
Dr. Nche Zama
Dr. Zama is a cardiothoracic surgeon who holds a PhD in chemistry, a master’s degree in management, and a medical degree. He has held positions across Pennsylvania, including Director of the ESSA Heart and Vascular Institute in East Stroudsburg, and founded a humanitarian organization to provide medical and surgical care to the poor.
Dave White
Dave White is a third generation Steamfitter with more than 40 years of experience in HVAC installation and servicing. In 2005, he founded DWD Mechanical Contractor, Inc, a company that now employees over 80 individuals.
Charlie Gerow
A small businessman, Mr. Gerow is CEO of Quantum Communications, a public relations firm based in Harrisburg. He is a member of the Republican State Committee from Cumberland Co. and has been elected as a delegate to the Republican National Convention multiple times.
Democratic forum Candidate:
Attorney General Josh Shapiro
Mr. Shapiro is the Pennsylvania Attorney General (2017–present), former member of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners (2012–2017), former state representative for HD-153 (2005–2012).
What is Trail?
TRAIL was developed by the Women and Girls Foundation in collaboration with Dr. Josie Badger, the Training Regional Advocates to Influence Leadership program develops statewide legislative training for people with disabilities. Trail provides these advocates with a skillset to promote systemic change.
